The mighty Godzilla 2 could not make big impact at the box office as it opened below expectations on its first day but showed a good improvement on the second day.
Directed by Michael Dougherty (Trick ‘r Treat and Krampus), Godzilla: King of the Monsters is a sequel to the 2014 monster hit Godzilla (2014) and is the 35th film in the Godzilla franchise. The monster film opened one day before on Thursday and collected Rs 2.25 crores.
However it showed growth on Friday with Rs 3.25 crores, bringing the two days total to Rs 5.50 crores. To defeat King Ghidorah and other Titans who are causing destruction around the world, the humans are dependent on Godzilla as their savior. The monster film has earned decent reviews but opened to a poor response.
Godzilla 2 will be the third film in the series of third film in Legendary’s MonsterVerse series. A sequel, Godzilla vs. Kong, is scheduled to be released on March 13, 2020. Aladdin and De De Pyaar De will continue to dominate the box office until the Salman Khan starrer Bharat arrives next Wednesday.
